In 1994 when I decided to purchase Brittany breeding stock, I did extensive research and talked to many kennels and Brittany breeders in hopes of finding just the right mix.  After spending over an hour on the phone with John Edwards of Ed's Brittanys in Goldsboro, North Carolina, I knew he was committed to improving the Brittany breed and was breeding and producing the best Brittanys available.  I told him of my plans to breed Brittanys and what I was striving to achieve and he was very helpful and put me on the right track to producing quality Brittany pups.  You see, Mr. Edwards had been breeding Brits and improving the breed since 1959.  Recently, upon contacting his kennel to purchase additional breeding stock I was saddened to learn that Mr. Edwards' health had declined and Mrs. Edwards was selling the kennel.  She had already moved many dogs but had reserved a few of the top breeding stock to be sure they went to breeders.  I purchased additional dogs from this top breeding stock to go with the pair I already had.  The pedigrees of all four dogs are filled with champions and hall of fame dogs, and the pups they produce live up to those standards.  I will attempt to continue the exemplary program that Mr. Edwards started some 40+ years ago through his established breeding practices and the introduction of the top available bloodlines.  As a tribute to Mr. Edwards, please read the interview with him in the Spring 1997 issue of Field Trial magazine.  I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Edwards for giving us all the opportunity to enjoy these great dogs that they have developed over the years.
